Leveraging Research on LSD Competitors. [Temp Check]

Hello!

Ameer Omar here former Blockswap team member :fist:

First of all great to see familiar faces/usernames @tokenswolf @ykplayer8 on the council. Super exciting to see the product development from a far.

I am part of the core team at CryptoEQ, and our team of analysts has been adding to our library of resources on Blockswap competitors, such as Lido, Rocketpool, Obol, Frax, Stakewise, and more.

We have published an LSD overview article designed to be super beginner-friendly and introduce the concept.

Additionally, we delve deep into Rocket Pool and RPL. Below is an excerpt from this article that I thought you all would like:

“The question of who becomes a node operator remains a crucial issue subject to debate. The primary risk of LSDs is when the governance token (e.g., RPL) becomes the deciding factor in who is a node operator, which can lead to self-reinforcing centralization and abuse of the Ethereum protocol. Alternatively, an economic and reputation-based node operator selection process may result in an automated cartelization. Kicking out node operators based on profitability may be the only trustless method, but it is not without issues, as profitability comparisons can be skewed by node operators using destructive techniques.”

That said, we have a surplus of research that has not been published on these protocols. In my conversation with @derek, I believe that the community and Blockswap Network would like to leverage this research and focus it on highlighting Blockswap’s unique offerings and market position.

The primary goal of this proposed CORE+ Report is to raise awareness about the commonly overlooked vulnerabilities of certain protocols offered by LSD providers in the industry. Through high-quality independent research, the report will position Blockswap as a clear alternative that effectively addresses these issues.

Please take a look at the below and feel free to ask questions. I’m also happy to coordinate a call with the council to answer questions directly.

Hi Ameer, nice to see you back! An in-depth report will be definitely helpful as I was getting similar questions about Blockswap and other LSD protocols very often.

But keep in mind that the guidelines say: “If approved, the applicant will receive the allocated BSN tokens after the successful completion of the project.” So we won’t be able to distribute the reward upfront. Apart from that, the payment of $17,500 in BSN even for in-depth reports is pretty high. Nevertheless, I’m in favor of this idea.

I agree with Tokenswolf here and would like to move forward. Would you accept 1M BSN as compensation?

Hey Guys,

Thank you for seeing the value in this, and getting a approval.

The issue comes down to having to do the work upfront without payment. We work with other DAOs and companies where that is standard. I know that is a stipulation, would the council consider an upfront token allocation?

Also on comp I’d be more comfortable with 1.25M BSN.

Let me know what you all think.

Also I’d be willing to do a 50% upfront and 50% upon delivery. Let me know what you think. Glad to schedule a call and provide more details.

Hey Ameer!
these are the grants guidelines approved by the DAO [Temperature Check] Grants for Stakehouse LSD Networks Contributions
Decision : After the review period and any necessary follow-up discussions which may extend past the review period, the Grant Council will inform the applicant and Blockswap community of their decision regarding the grant application. If approved, the applicant will receive the allocated BSN tokens after the successful completion of the project.

Grant council not able to do 50% upfront.

@ykplayer8 @SmeetyBoop @tokenswolf

It was great to chat with you all late last week. I wanted follow up on pending next steps on my end:

We would like to move forward with the Sablier stream/drip at the proposed token allotment of 1.75M as per our original ask. I have attached the proposal for review. This includes wallet address and standard signatures in place for agreement.

Also here is a one pager on [our network] (Our-Network.pdf - Google Drive) as requested. This report would be distributed to the firms below on a 1 to 1 basis.

Thank you for the additional information, it is being considered.

Also I did want to share a case of how our reports + press release added value to one of our clients Chainge Finance. I mentioned this on the call as well.

March 2023 - CryptoEQ & Chainge Finance Press Release

Look forward to hearing back.

Hey @SmeetyBoop, @ykplayer8 any update on approval?

Hello Guys,

Checking in on this proposal, let me know if you have any questions. I have a conflict for the community call. Glad to reconnect sometime this week.

Sorry for the stagnation on our end. In my opinion, we should go forward with this of course. Sablier should work for us.

Okay let me know what next steps you need on our end and the approved amount.

1.75M via Sablier is approved. Consider this as a green light from GC. But please update us regularly on the work you’ve done. We will try to set up Sablier ASAP but we need to check how will it work with SAFE wallet.

Sounds good let me know once operations are synced up on sablier and ill send over wallet address.

Please for doumentation purposes sign the service agreement in pandadoc: Service Agreement

I’d suggest a 9 week timeline for drip.

Also we’d like to have a kickoff call with someone from GC or @derek to formalize scope properly. Then from there I will have a formal timeline for project updates and expectations.

Looking forward to this report!

I’m happy to give suggestions on topics and scope.
